North Dakota’s persistence in maintaining an agricultural based economy may be the primary factor in the state’s low incidence of mesothelioma deaths. The exact number of deaths isn’t available, but estimates place the state between 46th and 50th in over all deaths due to mesothelioma.
A few industries in North Dakota are considered to be responsible for many cases of asbestos exposure. These include, but are not limited to:
- Oil companies such as BP Amoco, Mandan Oil, Signal Oil, and Standard Oil Co.
- Air Force Bases and missile silos including Grand Forks and Minot
- Power generation stations such as Coyote Station Electric Plant and Dakota Public Service Power Plant
- Construction and insulation companies such as W.R. Grace’s Zonolite Factory
Asbestos even found its way into agriculture. The manufacturing process of making fertilizer often included asbestos. Vermiculite, a common additive to potting soils, has been known to have been contaminated with asbestos.
Because the state is mostly rural, few treatment options are available; none of these treatment centers specialize in treating mesothelioma. If you seek mesothelioma expertise, you may find the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota can meet your needs.
If you’ve been diagnosed with mesothelioma, be sure to contact a North Dakota mesothelioma lawyer to review your legal options.

North Carolina has reported a minimum of 899 mesothelioma deaths since 1979. For years mesothelioma was confused with or just called lung cancer, so many deaths recorded in the state as lung cancer were actually caused by pleural mesothelioma.
Asbestos exposure occurred frequently in many industries where asbestos was used in manufacturing, insulating, and fireproofing applications. In North Carolina, these industries include, but are not limited to:
- Oil
- Shipping and shipbuilding, both commercial and naval
- Manufacturing, such as paper, wood products, textiles and chemicals
- Metal including steel and copper
- Power generation—steam, hydroelectric and nuclear
- Construction—most buildings constructed before 1980 contained asbestos
Folks that have been exposed to asbestos and have received a mesothelioma diagnosis should know that North Carolina law limits how much time they have to file a lawsuit after diagnosis. Be sure to consult a North Carolina mesothelioma lawyer as soon as possible to learn your legal options.
North Carolina law has established that mesothelioma victims that can prove asbestos exposure have a right to file a lawsuit against those responsible. In most cases, multiple asbestos manufacturers and employers are implicated and named as defendants in a case.
Each defendant may opt to offer a settlement rather than to go through a trial. Depending on the details of your case, this may or may not be in your best interest. Rest assured that the mesothelioma lawyers at Simon, Eddins & Greenstone, LLP, have the resources and experience to take your case through the entire legal process, including trial, if necessary.

No state has been able to escape the destruction of asbestos, including New Mexico. The state is home to a number of naturally occurring asbestos deposits, so anyone living or working nearby may have been exposed to asbestos.
When asbestos deposits occur near the ground surface, they can be disturbed by everything from vehicles to foot traffic. When disturbed, the long, flexible, and microscopic fibers of the mineral can become dust in the air and be breathed in or even swallowed, possibly leading to an asbestos disease such as mesothelioma years later.
In addition to its natural asbestos history, the state received hundreds of thousands of tons of asbestos contaminated insulation over a period of decades and that insulation was put in nearly every home and building constructed before about 1980.
Even though asbestos use became highly restricted and regulated in the 1970s, the substance has not been removed from many New Mexico buildings and homes and still poses a threat.
In addition, mesothelioma victims may not show symptoms for decades after their exposure, so even though it’s been 30 years since the substance was largely put out of use, it is expected that new cases of mesothelioma will be diagnosed for decades to come in New Mexico.
If you have suspect you may have been exposed to asbestos in New Mexico, or have been diagnosed with the disease and are looking for treatment in the state, read our more detailed page on New Mexico mesothelioma lawyers.

The history of mesothelioma in New Hampshire is typical and unremarkable. All of the industries typically linked with asbestos exposure in the 20th century were present in New Hampshire as well, such as:
- Commercial and naval shipyards
- Oil refineries
- Manufacturing
- Power generation
- Construction
However, if you were to ask any of the mesothelioma victims in the State of New Hampshire, or in any other state for that matter, we’re absolutely certain that they wouldn’t think their case was unremarkable.
Sometimes, the horrific pain we see victims and their families going through is extremely difficult to watch. As is true for physicians with their patients, an emotional attachment to the person we’re representing can interfere with us providing our client a rational, effective offense.
With as much as our mesothelioma attorneys have to do with mesothelioma cases, it might be easy to get caught up in numbers: asbestos levels in a workplace, years worked at as asbestos company, months left to live, and dollars needed to make the settlement of verdict worth both our clients’ and our efforts.
But our firm was built on a passion for the people, not cases, we represent. Yes, numbers are a part of what we do. But we strive to never lose sight of the fact that mesothelioma is painful, difficult, and all consuming for our clients and their families. We do have to maintain a professional relationship with our clients, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t empathize with their suffering, or that it is typical or meaningless.
We sincerely hope that your experience with the mesothelioma attorneys at Simon, Eddins & Greenstone, LLP is one that respects your humanity, your unique situation, and your wishes.

Nevada began to be developed much later in the 20th century than most other big cities in the country. Asbestos does not occur in natural deposits in the state and so until cities such as Reno and especially Las Vegas began to expand significantly, Nevada residents were safer from asbestos exposure and resulting diseases such as mesothelioma and asbestosis.
However, the state began to see rapid growth, especially in Las Vegas, and until the recent economic slump, it was the fastest growing city in the United States for years. Casinos brought in visitors which in turn created jobs in the hospitality industry. Workers in these jobs required homes, physicians, retail stores, libraries, schools, etc.
Unfortunately, from the 1950s to the early 1980’s, construction of nearly all these casinos, hotels, homes, stores, and buildings involved asbestos. Asbestos was regularly present in insulation, drywall, plaster, floor tiles, plumbing, and other building products.
All of this growth also made electricity in high demand, especially considering the amount of power the Las Vegas strip uses. At first, casinos built their own power generators on site, but eventually, regional power generation stations replaced them. Now the state has a number of power stations, and each of these has asbestos present.
The reason for this is that asbestos was also frequently used in electrical wires, partitions, and panels because it is resistant to heat and electricity.
As a result of asbestos exposure, hundreds of people that have lived or worked in Nevada have developed mesothelioma. Nevada law protects the rights of mesothelioma victims and Nevada mesothelioma lawyers have helped their clients achieve settlements and verdicts against asbestos companies to help with financial and other losses.
