ALCL caused by Breast Implants

Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma

Have you or a woman you love been diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma and you currently have or have had breast implants? You may be able to sue the makers of your implants and hold them accountable for your pain, suffering and other damages. An ALCL trial attorney at Simon, Eddins & Greenstone, LLP (SEG) can answer your legal questions during a free, no obligation consultation.

SEG trial attorneys have fought for years against large corporations that failed to protect consumers. We’ve recovered millions of dollars for victims of dangerous products and for those harmed from negligent corporations failing to properly warn consumers of the dangers of their products, and other instances of negligence.

ALCL Trial Attorneys—Protecting Your Interests

You may find yourself facing a long court battle when you’re at your most vulnerable. And that’s just the way makers of dangerous products like it. Your health issues may make you inclined to spend your time fighting your illness rather than those that caused it. Certainly, your health should be your top priority.

That’s why our ALCL lawyers do everything we can to make the legal process as simple as possible for you. From coming to you rather than making you travel, offering a variety of support resources, and standing tough in court, we’re here to aggressively protect your interests…even when you may not have the strength.

Don’t let those responsible for your illness have the upper hand. Make a strong statement that you won’t back down. Contact Simon, Eddins & Greenstone today. 1-866-632-7574 or use the quick contact form to your right.

Information About ALCL and Breast Implants

ALCL is a rare cancer more often found in other areas of the body such as lymph glands, bone marrow and other body systems than in the breasts. However, the Food & Drug Administration recently announced results from a 13 year study that shows an increased incidence of the disease in women with breast implants. The increased risk is the same for saline and silicone implants.

ALCL is not what is normally known as breast cancer but rather a rare type of cancer that forms in the tissue around your implant.  ALCL can cause the following and more:

  • Pain
  • Swelling and fluid
  • Lumps
  • Breast asymmetry
  • Increased scarring

These symptoms can occur any time after your implant has healed, but typically occur years after the implant procedure.

ALCL Treatment

Removal of the affected tissue and chemotherapy are the top treatments. However, since this kind of cancer is so rare, there hasn’t been a lot of research done about it. If left untreated, ALCL can spread to other body systems and can lead to death.

At this time, the FDA and physicians are not recommending implant removals solely based on concern about ALCL. Instead, they encourage those with implants to continue regular self breast examination, normal check ups with their physician, and mammograms as normally prescribed.

ALCL Warnings and Case Tracking

Manufacturers knew of potential risks but failed to take adequate precautions. There may be more cases than have been reported. As a result, the FDA is asking anyone that has been diagnosed with ALCL to report, or have their physician report, their case to MedWatch, the online reporting system. You can report your ALCL case here.

Additionally, the FDA is working to make sure breast implant manufacturers include warnings of the increased risk of ALCL on product packaging and literature.  ALCL victims were not adequately warned.

If you have concerns about symptoms you may be experiencing, contact your physician right away.
